Professorship in Financial Accounting and Auditing
 
The Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Sciences of the University of Bern invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate Professor level at the Institute for Accounting (starting date: August 1, 2020). This call is directed at researchers who apply empirical research methods and dispose of a proven track record in at least one of the following research areas: Financial Accounting, Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting, Earnings Management, and/or Auditing. The professorship is required to provide courses within the teaching curricula of the Department of Business Administration and the Institute for Accounting of the University of Bern.
 
Applicants for the position on the Assistant Professor level must have earned a doctoral degree (or be close to its completion), dispose of promising research plan in the aforementioned research areas, and demonstrate research excellence and the potential to publish in leading international accounting journals. Applicants for the position on the Associate Professor level additionally dispose of an internationally recognized track record in research, including publications in top academic accounting journals as well as an excellent teaching record.
 
Non-German speaking candidates are expected to acquire a working knowledge of German within the first two years of their appointment to be able to teach BA-courses in German and to participate in administrative tasks.
 
Salaries are in accordance with the Employment and Personnel Law of the Canton (State) of Bern. The employment at the Assistant professor level is limited to five years. If the qualification criteria are met, the position will be promoted to a permanent Associate Professor position.
