Post-doctoral scholarship
 
The Department of Business Administration at Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics, Umeå University, is looking for a researcher that will strengthen our research about individuals’ and companies’ financial decisions from a behavioral perspective.
 
The post-doctoral scholarship is financed by Tore Browaldh’s Foundation, Handelsbanken. The scholarship will support full time research activity and is limited to three years. A review of the research contribution after three years will then determine whether the scholarship is extended for an additional three years.
 
The post doc is entitled to teach up to 30% at Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics. Compensation for teaching is paid in addition to the scholarship.
 
The post doc will be placed at the Accounting and Finance section. The faculty consists of 10 assistant, associate or full professors and a number of PhD students and lecturers. Our key research areas are individuals’ and companies’ financial decisions from a behavioral perspective and auditing. However, our research also focuses on initial public offerings, bankruptcy, corporate governance, real estate management and financial accounting. We do mainly “archival” based research using various data-sources.

Starting Date
 
March 1, 2021, or later by agreement.
 
Eligibility requirements
 
Applicants must have obtained their PhD degree no more than three years before the application deadline.
 
Assessment criteria
 
• Quality of the doctoral dissertation. The dissertation should deal with a topic in accounting or finance.
• Quality and number of articles in academic journals and working papers.
• Ability to conduct high quality empirical research.
• Teaching experience in accounting or finance.
• Willingness to collaborate on research activities with the business school’s faculty and internationally.
• Potential ability to attract external research funding.
 
The primary basis for selection will be the ability to carry out and publish high quality research and to contribute to the research environment of the Accounting and Finance section.

We will be present at the European Accounting Association’s talent workshop for accounting academics November 3-6 2020. The talent workshop provides an online venue where candidates can present their work as well as hold interviews with recruiters.

A complete application must be submitted no later than January 15, 2021. To be eligible for the position, the applicants should have obtained their PhD at this date.
