Head of School of Accounting and Finance

The University of Bristol seeks to appoint an outstanding academic leader as the Head of its new School of Accounting and Finance, which is being created out of the re-organisation of the current School of Economics, Finance and Management.

The School will be home to one of the UK’s top Accounting and Finance groups, undertaking world-class research across a range of topics including banking, corporate finance, financial markets, management accounting, financial reporting and accountability, and meeting the highest international standards of research-led teaching and the student experience.

As Head of School, you will occupy a key academic leadership position within the University. Reporting to the Faculty Dean, you will lead and manage the academic business of the School in relation both to strategy and to operations.

Candidates will have outstanding leadership credentials and a track record of excellence in research and research-led education.  An open and inclusive approach towards academic and professional service colleagues is a key requirement of the role, as is the ability to develop partnerships and to promote knowledge exchange.  A deep commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is essential.

The appointment as Head of School will be for four years, subject to renewal, and will go hand in hand with an open-ended full-time professorial position.

This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of Accounting and Finance at a pioneering, Russell Group University in a city that is one of the UK's major centres for financial services and that was named the best city to live in by The Sunday Times in its ‘Best Places to Live Guide 2017’.
