2018 Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance (JAAF) Conference

June 25 – 27, 2018, Seogwipo City, JeJu Island, Korea

Submission Period: January 1 – February 15, 2018

We invite submissions of innovative research papers for the 2018 Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance Conference to be held at Seogwipo, JeJu Island, Korea. Papers may be submitted for consideration in one of two tracks: Plenary Session submissions or Concurrent Session submissions.

PLENARY SESSION SUBMISSIONS: Plenary Session papers are submitted for consideration for the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance (JAAF). All papers submitted for this track will be reviewed according to JAAF policies. While there is an expectation that accepted Plenary Session papers will be published in the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, ultimate acceptance to the journal will be determined according to the JAAF editorial policies.

Papers submitted under this track that are not accepted as Plenary Session papers may be considered as Concurrent Session submissions at the option of the submitting author. Authors should indicate whether the submission should be considered for Plenary Sessions only or both Plenary Sessions and Concurrent Sessions in the cover letter at the time of submission.

Authors will be notified of acceptance by March 11, 2018. The conference will waive the registration fee for one presenter of each accepted paper, and will provide limited financial assistance for travel and three-night accommodation. Decisions to support may be taken based on individual circumstances.

Papers not accepted as Plenary Session papers may be given an opportunity to revise and resubmit for publication in the regular issue. If papers are rejected, some may be given an opportunity to resubmit as a new submission; however, the ultimate decision depends on the editorial review process of the journal and the desires of the authors.

To submit a manuscript for the plenary paper session, please follow the submission procedure outlined at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jaaf and select special issue with the description "JAAF Conference 2018". Manuscripts should be accompanied by a submission fee of $150 USD. Authors are also required to email a copy of manuscript to jaaf.conference@polyu.edu.hk

CONCURRENT SESSION SUBMISSIONS: Papers submitted for Concurrent Sessions only will be considered for presentation at the conference but not for publication in the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance. Submissions should be directed via email to 1) Professor Seokwoo Jeong at jaaf@korea.ac.kr and 2) jaaf.conference@polyu.edu.hk

Authors will be notified of acceptance by March 25, 2018.

CONFERENCE VENUE: Jejudo (also known as Jeju Island) is a volcanic island, one of new 7 wonders of Nature. With a surface area of 1,846 sqkm it is the largest island 130 km off the coast of the Korean Peninsula, and the main island of Jeju Province of South Korea. The island lies in the Korea Strait, southwest of South Jeolla Province. The island contains the natural World Heritage Site Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes. A central feature of Jeju is Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano, which rises 1,950 m above sea level. 360 satellite volcanoes are around the main volcano.

The island was created entirely from volcanic eruptions approximately 2 million years ago, during the time period extending from the Tertiary to the beginning of the Quaternary period, and consists chiefly of basalt and lava. The eruptions took place in the Cenozoic era. It has a humid subtropical climate, warmer than that of the rest of Korea, with four distinct weather seasons. Winters are cool and dry while summers are hot, humid, and sometimes rainy.

A number of hotel rooms will be arranged for the conference and more information will be announced at the conference website, as soon as more information become available.

The 2018 Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance Conference is co-sponsored by the School of Accounting and Finance at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Institute of Business Research and Education (IBRE) at Korea University Business School.
