Measuring the Facial Width-to-Height Ratio

I would like to calculate the facial width-to-height ratio („fWHR“) as in Jia/van Lent/Zeng (JAR, 2014). If I understand correctly, the paper calculated the score individually for every picture using the ImageJ software provided by the National Institutes of Health. This approach seems to be very labor intensive. Also, I would like to calculate the score for a large sample of persons. Any idea whether there is a specific software package out there that could help automating this process?

This should be useful: Ties de Kok wrote an excellent blog post about how to "Use Python to calculate the facial width to height ratio (fWHR)".

Hi, Xiang, I have not read the "Python Method" posted by Ties (I will read it later), but from my experience, you need to make sure that you have good quality pictures in the first place. Otherwise, you might get some errors.
